The researchers tested the battery's prototype to track energy efficiency while washing it away from the Quality Management Scheme of Palo Alto Regional Water with alternating hourly transfers of wastewater and seawater obtained from the surrounding Half Moon Bay. Battery materials have maintained 97% efficiency in capturing the energy of the saline gradient over 180 cycles.
The system could be used to combine fresh and saltwater, but the plants that take care of wastewater treatment also have a helpful case study. Around 3% of the gross US electrical load is energy-intensive wastewater treatment. The mechanism is also prone to the problems of power supply shutdowns, which is important for community health. The autonomous use of wastewater treatment plants would not only reduce power and pollution but also prevent blackouts—a key benefit for areas like California, where new wildfires have resulted in large-scale failures.

The typical American house is powered for about 30 minutes by a single cubic foot of water, which combines with seawater, provides about 65-kilowatt hours of electricity. Although laboratory tests show low electric output per region of the electrode, due to its limited footprint, simplification, constant generation of energy, and lack of membranes and instruments, the capacity of the battery to regulate the charging and voltage is considered to be more feasible than previous technology.
The electrodes are manufactured using the Prussian Blue, a pigment and medicinal substance which costs feasibly less than $1.2 kilogram (approximately 2.2 lbs), and polypyrene, which is an experimental material used for batteries and other devices which is available for less than $3.2 kilograms in bulk.

How to control blue battery quality?
There is a significant problem if the safety system of the battery has been destroyed by static electricity or a defective adapter.
